With over 40 years experience and with his original California contractors license dating back to January 06, 1982. Terry’s exclusive self storage experience began by cutting his teeth with the expertise and training of the notable, Stuart Ross, the founder of Rib Roof the ‘Godfather of Self Storage’.  

Terry began when the engineering requirements for self storage demanded far less labor and skill to construct and has been working all the way up to the rigorous current day engineering requirements, especially seen in California with the heavy seismic safeguards engineered into today’s building construction. The now owners of many companies you may have built with in the past have either worked for Terry in their early days, or have had him as a consultant to have a better understanding of the industry and what it is they are doing.

 

Fast talk, promises, pictures, and colorful websites may look pretty, yet still only one thing that matters; Getting your project up and out of the ground in the quickest, the most efficient, and cost effective way possible. Not until a project leaves the architect’s mind and then to the calculations of a skilled engineer and granted approval by the building department within the jurisdiction of a chosen site is it ready to be born. We have the competitive advantage against many of our competitors when it comes to installing Self-Storage because we have our own labor force. This eliminates the middleman hiring a separate contractor and marking up their labor, which in turn, not only allows us to work directly with the General Contractor, but eliminates the markup of the middleman. We also have the facilities to produce many of the necessary parts and pieces that end up slowing down the job and this not only plays into the speed to produce, but also reduces the cost to the owner by eliminating the middleman having to purchase from a separate supplier.

3. SPEED

From the moment that a project breaks ground, the number one goal is getting the doors open and having a “Ready-For-Rent” facility. With STL RE/CON INC. being the largest subcontractor on the construction site, we are able to increase the speed of delivery with our experience of the field, working with the other subcontractors for efficiency, and our ability to fabricate the key components in-house.

STL RE/CON INC during the course of over 40 Years Exclusively in the self storage industry, we have learned how important and crucial it is to provide your own labor on these construction projects. Utilizing multiple different subcontractors for the steel not only forces other companies to raise the prices to hit their margins but also creates a situation where all these different companies have varying levels of quality and consistency. We have been able to build our labor force to satisfy those very needs and our own IN-house labor provided by us streamlines the building process. There is no back and forth, just getting these projects out of the ground. Building these projects and being dependent on another manufacturer of steel, while competing companies play supplier is no way to effectively deliver these self storage buildings. We solve that with our company background manufacturing and roll forming the necessary components for self storage, without having to wait on another manufacturer’s lead times for all their other clients.
